• BCAP summer pilot program launches
1999
• Independence Community Foundation funds initial research into cultural partnerships
2000
• Heart of Brooklyn’s initial business plan is completed
2001
• HOB is formally incorporated as an independent non-profit. The Wallace Foundation recognizes HOB with one of 12 nationwide Parents and Communities for Kids grants.
2002
• HOB launched the first phase of Cultural Consumer Research – the longitudinal cultural visitor survey.
2003
• HOB launches new initiatives: BKLYN magazine; electronic Heartbeats; Neighborhood Weekends and the Crown Heights Renaissance Economic Development Research Project.
2004
• BCAP expands to include BCAP Express and Experience HOB tourism program is launched.
2005
• Borough President Marty Markowtiz cuts the ribbon on HOB’s new storefront community office.
2006
• HOB and Brooklyn Tourism launch Brooklyn Pass.
2007
• HOB introduces the First Saturday Shuttle, convenes a Meetup group, expands education programs year round with BCAP After School and launches Jazz: Brooklyn’s Beat and the Wayfinding project.
2008
• The HOB Connection debuts with free shuttle service to the Heart of Brooklyn and HOB board and staff complete a new three-year strategic plan.
2009
• Mayor Bloomberg recognizes HOB with a Neighborhood Achievement Award.
