Amy AtticksMarketing & Administrative Associate Marketing & Administrative Associate Amy Atticks works with the staff of HOB member institutions and various consultants on marketing initiatives and tourism opportunities. She coordinates the Marketing Committee and Board Member correspondence, and manages the organization’s internship program. She holds a B.A. from The College of William and Mary, and has held positions at the Washington National Opera, The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, and Brooklyn Museum.
Zola Bruce Development Associate Development Associate, Zola Bruce, provides writing, research, and administrative support to HOB’s programs and initiatives. Her past experience includes developing and managing youth development programs at Better Brooklyn Community Center, McBurney YMCA, and the Center for Family Life. A board member of Groundswell Community Mural Project, she believes in using art as a tool for social change. Ms. Bruce is also Executive Director of Unified for Global Healing, a nonprofit that provides culturally competent health services in under served international communities using multidisciplinary teams. Zola Bruce received her BA from Sarah Lawrence College and her MSW from Columbia University School of Social Work.
Elizabeth Dunn, Brooklyn Cultural Adventures Program (BCAP) Associate, is responsible for supporting BCAP Summer Camp, BCAP Express, and BCAP After-School programming, facilitating the BCAP registration process, and assisting the BCAP Director. She received her B.A. from Boston College, her M.Ed. in Secondary English from Brooklyn College, and is now completing an M.A. in School Counseling from NYU. Ms. Dunn served as a New York City Teaching Fellow and taught English at a Brooklyn high school from 2002-2004. She currently works as a school counseling intern at Bard High School Early College. Ms. Dunn has a range of education experience in adult literacy, private tutoring, and as a judge for the National Scholastic Writing Awards. She is also a product of summer camps, and spent many happy summers in the Adirondacks as both a camper and counselor.
Alexandra Lubensky Spring Education Intern Alexandra Lubensky, is the Spring Education Intern at Heart of Brooklyn. She assists in the planning and marketing process for BCAP Summer Camp and BCAP Express. Alexandra is a Junior at Brown University, where she is concentrating in International Relations. In the past, she worked as a Junior Instructor in the Children’s Garden at Brooklyn Botanic Garden and as a counselor at Sitka Fine Arts Camp. Alexandra also has extensive experience working in theater, both at her University and in New York City. alubensky@heartofbrooklyn.org
Ingrid Otting , Manager of Education and BCAP Director, is responsible for all aspects Heart of Brooklyn’s educational programming, including the implementation of Brooklyn Cultural Adventures Program (BCAP), HOB’s signature educational summer camp. Ms. Lazerwitz received her B.A. from Macalester College in English/Creative Writing and Sociology, and has worked extensively in both the public school system and the non-profit art world in the U.S. and abroad. Most recently, she taught History and Performing Arts with the Arts and College Preparatory Academy, and directed an arts day camp for Days of Creation Arts for Kids. iotting@heartofbrooklyn.org
Mollita Abron MuhammadCommunity Outreach Manager As Community Outreach Manager, Mollita Abron Muhammad fosters relationships with community organizations and civic groups to engage them in the many programs offered by HOB members. A staff member since 2001, Ms. Muhammad is HOB’s most longstanding employee. She graduated with a B.A. in Public Administration at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Mrs. Muhammad has held positions at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Business, Mizuno USA and Equifax.
Director Ellen F. Salpeter brings to Heart of Brooklyn almost two decades of not-for-profit experience in arts and culture. As the founding Director of Heart of Brooklyn, Ms. Salpeter is frequently asked to share strategies with other cultural clusters that recognize the power of partnership, and is also sought after to moderate panels and discussions on issues in contemporary art and culture.
Sarah ShannonDevelopment Officer Development Officer Sarah Shannon is responsible for the research, writing and submission of all grants and proposals to fund HOB’s programs and initiatives. Prior to joining HOB, Ms. Shannon was a non-profit fundraising and management consultant with clients including the Lutheran Medical Center, the National Child Labor Committee and Art2Facts, Inc. From 1993 to 2001, Ms. Shannon was the National Program Director for Careers Through Culinary Arts Program, a national school-to-career program for at-risk youth. Ms. Shannon received her B.A. from Barnard College, Columbia University.
